We provide door-to-door paratransit service to people whose disabilities prevent them from using fixed route public transit. These vans vary their routes based on riders’ destinations, but must be scheduled in advance.
Eligibility
Individuals interested in using Sonoma County Paratransit service must be registered and certified as ADA eligible before using the service. To apply for ADA paratransit service, call Sonoma County Transit at 707-585-7516 to request an application be mailed to you. Complete the application and return to Sonoma County Transit. Volunteer Wheels provides seniors and people with disabilities with transportation from their homes to important appointments and errands, enabling them to live more independently. More than 30,000 rides are provided each year, serving over 3,300 people in our community. Volunteer Wheels operates the ADA paratransit service for Sonoma County Transit (SCT) with a staff of paid and volunteer drivers and is funded through our service contract with SCT and contributions from the community. Americans with Disabilities complimentary door to door transportation for ADA-eligible persons within Petaluma is available. Paratransit provides rides to persons who, due to a disability, are unable to utilize Petaluma Transit’s fixed route bus service for some or all of their trips.
